vocational training for self-Employment.
This institute
was established in the year 1942 by the then British Government for the
rehabilitation of the Ex-serviceman of the British Indian Army,specially to
those Ex-serviceman who were handicapped during war or those who were
disbanded.These men were given admission in this institute for vocational
training from making shoe to diesel mechanic.In that time 60% of the seats were
reserved for the armed forces men and 40% of the seat for civilians.The
institute also included old soldiers who were experienced in craftsmanship and
were literate,they were given the post of an instructor in this prestigious
institute.This policy of the institute ran from 1942 till 1947,where after the
country got its independence.
After
independence due to the influx of refugees problem came as to how to make then
self-employable.so, to solve this problem in the year 1947 Regional Training
Scheme was started.The goal of this scheme was to give training to the masses
for self-Employment motivation.The country's bad economy was the reason that
this scheme was not successful.
After
independence, the first five year plan was presented ,in which the foundation
of the Industrial Training Institute was layed down by the then prime minister
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.Whose persistent hardship and excellent leadership for
self reliance and development made way for the foundation of the Industries
that were established and production started on a large scale in every sphere
of industrial section.Due to this rapid expansion there was a dire need for
skilled labour,skilled teachers who can teach and train more and more students
and staff to manage the administration of such school of vocational
training.So,for getting skilled teachers ,the need for teaching institute
arised,where new teachers were trained in a modern way, to solve this the first
of its kind I.T.C(industrial Training center) & I.T.I was first established
in 1956 at koni,Bilaspur. There after in 1958 in pune,Maharastra. On addition
to that,places like Chennai(Madras),Mumbai(Bombay),Delhi,Kolkatta(Calcutta),Hyderabad
the teachers training institute was established.In Madhya Prdesh since 1951
more I.T.I's were established in cities like
Indore,Gwalior,Khandwa,Bhillai,Chindwara,Reva and other important cities by the
state government.It is constituted under DGET(Directorate General of Employment
and Training),ministry of Labour and employment,Union government of India,
which actually looks after the employment and training under them.
Employment
training main aim was Employbility. The.The I.T.I's under the state leadership
was established to fullfil the Government of India scheme for skilled,trained
and employable citizens, that was needed to fill the gap between the industries
and skilled labour.The whole concept of I.T.I is kept in a manner where new
trainees were taught cleanliness,tools keeping and hard work that is important
for a lifetime.
At present,after
the birth of the state of Chhattisgarh,the koni M.I.T.I is the biggest
I.T.I.Beside that Women I.T.I is established for woman candidates.At present
the Koni M.I.T.I operates many trades for example-
Motor Mechanic,Diesel
Mechanic,Fitter,Electronics,Turner,Machinist,Tractor Mechanic,Stenography
Hindi,Stenography English,secretarial Practice,Radio and
Television,Wire-man,Welder,Carpenter,Draftsman Mechanic,Draftsman
Civil,Surveyor,Cutting and Tailoring,Refrigeration and Air
Conditioning,Electrician,Plumber,Building Making,Painter,Molder,Information
Technology(COPA),Sheet metal,Blacksmith.

Make in india was coined in the year 1942 through this
institute by the veterans who taught us about self reliance,who taught how to
stitch our sole to repairing a diesel motor, who then spread out in the whole
country to give some good meaning to vocational education that industries today
are looking for.The demand for I.T.I graduates are sky rocketing that a B.E. or
B.TECH.
